Sharks Jammin’ On Da Sea

June 24th, 2012

On the evening on June 20th we spent three hours cruisin’ English Bay on a beautiful first day of Summer. Guests were treated to jammin’ beats, Caribbean eats, a silent auction and a Harry inspired photo booth.

With 50 tickets sold the night before, we sold out with over 200 guests in total! Thank you to everyone who came out to the Jammin’ Shark Boat Party. We are overwhelmed with your support and for helping us pack the boat to the brim for our 3rd anniversary.

Thank you again to DJ Tank Gyal, photographers Jennifer Strang and Gloria Ching, The Reef and Calabash Bistro for the Caribbean eats. Most importantly, a big thank you goes to the planning committee (Aylin, Sarah, Candace, Corlyn, Melissa, Tasli, Erin and Sofia) and the volunteers that made the evening possible!

You can see more photos from the Boat Party at Jennifer Strang Photography or on the Shark Truth Flickr page.

The party doesn’t have to stop now! Sign up for our restaurant campaign BUYcott. We will let you know which restaurant goes Fin Free first and invite you to the celebrations.

Jammin’ Shark Boat Party Event Details (Tickets here)

We’re stoked to celebrate our third-year anniversary with you. Here are some important details about the event.

Jammin’ Shark Boat Party
Next Wednesday June 20th 7-10pm
Boat Departs from Granville Island (Aqua Bus stop in front of Bridges – Google Earth)

** This is a ticketless event (check-in with the guest list) ** Haven’t bought a ticket yet? Get your tickets here!

Getting There & Parking: Go to Granville Island! Bike along the Seawall or hop on Bus#50 “False Creek” from Gastown. There is also plenty of free parking around the island for the duration of the event.

Aqua Bus stop in front of Bridges. Look for Burrard Queen: Walk towards Bridges restaurant (bright yellow building – Google Earth it here). Then, go down the ramp in front of Bridges restaurant towards the Aqua Bus. You’ll see a sign that says “Jammin’ Shark Boat Party.” Then turn left and follow the dock around until you get to the pay-teh! Look for the boat marked Burrard Queen.

Arrival Time: Please arrive at 7pm as the boat will depart sharply at 7:30pm. We will return and dock by 10pm.

Dress Code & Weather: We’re anticipating sunshine so feel free to come casually dressed or in your summer attire and don’t forget to bring a sweater/jacket because it gets chilly out on the water at night. The ship is indoors (covered) and has an outdoor deck. *Bring a fun hat or wig for the Jammin’ Shark Photo Booth.

Food & Drink & Kids: There will be food! Kebabs, Jamaican patties and other delicious Caribbean inspired treats brought to you by The Reef and Calabash Bistro (vegetarian/vegan friendly options too!). There’s a bar on board that takes cash or credit, and there’s an ATM on the boat. There may be some intense dancing on the dance floor downstairs but the event is kid-friendly!

Dance & Prizes: You will be jammin’ to the reggae beats of DJ Tank Gyal. Look for the silent auction of Canucks goodies and locally sponsored prizes.

Jammin’ on,

Claudia, Aylin, Sarah, Corlyn, Candace & the Shark Truth Team
